Paw Patrol and Ear Fire

Back from the weekend and survived!! This weekend our Grandbaby turned 3 and loves Paw Patrol so I quilted up this cute Paw Patrol Quilt. This blue paw patrol fabric is just the cutest character fabric I have seen in awhile, I broke up the blue with a multi polka dot I have had awhile and red and green tonal fabric. I think he will really enjoy snuggling under this blanket.

Lots of Easter stitching went on Sunday finishing up the last of the Easter orders! Pa worked on the garden, I was stitching and he was digging. I forgot to take pictures of the new garden but will post them this week! I am super excited to have a garden again!

So have you ever heard of ear candles?
Well  our kids ( they are adults) have been using them to "clean their ears" they said I had to try them.Let me tell you the right and wrong way to use them. If you never have      used them you put one end inyour ear and light a end, the right way to use them would be to cut a hole in a paper plate and stick the candle through it, as it burns you have to trim the burnt part off,    however my kids said they just held a paper plate beside it. Pa decided he would get his done first, it went smoothly no problems, however when Addie here decided it was her turn not once but twice they dropped the ash part onto my face, ear and hair. A week later and still have the burn on my ear to prove it. Do they work? Yes they really do work, and in a crazy way it is really relaxing till the fire falls on your ear lol. No jokes aside I will use them again just next time I will cut a hole in the plate to be a little more cautious. That was my walk on the wild side this week!

Kentucky Derby Party

I have had this sweet horse shirt in my shop for a while but recently updated it into a smash cake bib with pink and gold for a Kentucky Derby 1st Birthday Party!!

The colors of the saddle can be made to match whatever color theme the party is! This is also fun on a shirt for horseback riding parties or any little girl who loves horses!

My little girl went to horse back riding camp one year! What fun!!

Sew Sampler Box February

Got this pretty little Aqua box yesterday- so much fun and surprises in one box. I started subscribing to the Sew Sampler box in August and have not been disappointed at all. Its a easy way to build my supply of sewing and quilting tools.

I have had this thread conditioner on my wish list to try for a while. It also included a few more binding clips to add to my supply. The binding clips are super handy for other things as well.
This months box also included this pretty jolly bar plus pattern, all jolly bars come with a pattern which is a bonus!! The fabric in this one is called Sweet Marion and it is gorgeous. I like that every month there is a new fabric I am building quite the stash but it will be nice to just walk in one day and already have the pattern and fabric ready to go to make something!

Princess Shirts

I had a custom order for the Frog Princess on Etsy. I found this adorable design at Linnie Pinnie.
This was my first time stitching out designs from this site, but let me tell you I loved it, It stitched very clean and easy.  Linnie Pinnie has several different princess ones I am going to try and stitch them all and add to my shop. These would also make a really cute quilt blocks.
I love when customers ask for custom orders, I probably never would have stitched this one out with out them asking for it. This design can be ordered in a white shirt as well or on a ruffle style shirt that would be super cute with the princess theme.  The Frog Princess Shirt is available to order in my Etsy Shop Addies Things or by emailing me at Addiesthings@gmail.com. If looking for a different princess I will gladly accept custom orders.

I'm back again..promising to get better at this blog thing..

I'm back -boy time got a way from me since last year or maybe I just have not worked on a quilt in awhile so no need to blog? I think I will start using my blog some for my Etsy shop to so I will get more regular at blogging. I had originally used it just for personal sewing maybe that would help.

So this quilt I have been working on for a year or actually over a year. I cut it out December 2015 and sewed the strips together sometime the first of last year. They are from a jelly roll and the fabric is Daysail by Bonnie and Camille which is so pretty and bright.  The pattern I used was Jellybean by Thimble blossoms. This pattern was my most difficult quilt to date but it was fairly easy. I think a beginner could follow it.

When I first started quilting I would look at a pattern and think I can never even think to do that, I am horrible at math, but once I started breaking it down and figuring how it was built it got a lot easier for me.

The backing I am going to use is Handmade fabric line by Bonnie and Camille as well, I like that you can mix and match their different lines together. Hopefully by next weekend I will have the quilt basted and pinned and ready to start quilting.

I have not named this quilt yet-not sure what to name it, my husband suggested something to go along with Daysail and flags flying, it reminded him of flags flying in the wind. I figure it will come to be when I finish it up.

Wild Plum Picking

This week has flown by fast but been pretty productive. I finished quilting the damask quilt last night and will get the binding finished this weekend.

I  picked wild plums on Sunday, we have had so much rain this year, that the branches are loaded.
This is just one round of picking so far, there is probably 3 times this amount in green plums still on the branches.

I cooked down this batch last night and got exactly 6 cups of juice from the wild plums. I will come in tonight and make my first batch of jelly for this year.

Look how pretty that juice looks! I let the juice cool down and stored it in the fridge overnight I will take it out and warm it up and make the jelly from that, I normally go straight in and make jelly but was limited on time last night. I am hoping it does not affect the juice letting it sit overnight in the fridge.
